This is an 8-week web-based, HYBRID COURSE designed for those who provide direct instruction to students. In this course, faculty participants will learn strategies for fully including students with disabilities in academic activities. Participants will also discuss studies and review answers to questions faculty members frequently ask about accommodating students with disabilities in their classes. On-campus and off-campus resources will be explored. Faculty participants will be asked to select one of their existing courses to review in light of the issues presented during this course. For the selected course, faculty will examine access for students with disabilities, explore accommodation strategies and consider modifications that would make it more accessible to students with a wide variety of disabilities. Course activities include online readings, videos, online discussions, a face to face interview, and individual projects.
Full-Time Faculty may elect to earn 32 hours of Professional Growth Increment credit. Accommodating Students with Disabilities in the Classroom is an online program that needs to be completed in its entirely in order to earn the Professional Growth Increment credit, therefore partial credit cannot be granted.
Please note that this activity is scheduled from December 11, 2017, thru February 5, 2018, primarily ONLINE, however it is possible to successfully complete the course earlier than February 5, 2018.
In addition, participants must attend ONE mandatory orientation meeting.

Thursday, December 14 (4:15-6:15 pm) OR
Friday, December 15 (3:30-5:30 pm).
